About Hammam Towels

Hammam towel is a traditional Turkish towel. It can also be called Peshtemal or Fouta towels.

1. It is lightweight so they do not stay damp for long thanks to their lightweight and thinness, which also means that they do not smell.

2. It is absorbent and can be used everywhere where people meet with water;

3. It dries very quickly because hammam towels are so thin it air dries very quickly;

4. It is compact so takes up less space making it ideal to take on holiday, take to the gym or carry in your bag for a chilly evening; and

5. It is also very versatile so you can use a hammam towel as a beach towel, a scarf, a throw or a blanket and it can also be used as a bath towel.

Hammam towel is made from 100% Turkish cotton and they are produced on manually operated looms. They are made by local families in a town called Buldan which is in Denizli, Turkey. Hammam towels are traditionally rectangular however, with the increased demand in the market the shapes and sizes now vary.

Our products are woven on manually operated looms. There is no electricity used. If taken care of properly you can use them for many years. They are lightweight and thin so they would not take up a lot of space in the washing machine. Based on these, our products are environmentally friendly.

Hammam towels are soft, lightweight and quick-drying. They are ideal for the beach because they are compact(they can be easily packed into any luggage), they are sand-free(sand does not stick to the towel and can be easily dusted off) and they are of excellent quality(they are woven using 100% pure cotton). When cared for properly they can last a very long time making them worth what you pay for.

Hammam towels are versatile; they are flat woven using 100% cotton which makes them suitable for the beach and far beyond. They can also be used in the bathroom, as a scarf, a summer throw, a picnic blanket, a gym towel, and a yoga mat cover. There are many ways to use a hammam towel. Due to its absorbency, they dry you just as much as any other towel and because they are flat woven the towel air dries very quickly after it becomes wet. Yes, Turkish cotton is fantastic! Turkish cotton is soft and has long fibres; it is these fibres that make hammam towels so absorbent. To make your hammam towel more absorbent, you can soak your hammam towel in cool water overnight when you first purchase it. This will allow the cotton fibres to bloom and become softer and more absorbent. To learn more about how to make a hammam towel more absorbent read our note on this here.

When you first purchase your hammam towel, soak it in cool water overnight. This will allow the cotton fibres to bloom and become softer and more absorbent. In the morning, wring the hammam towel and allow it to air dry completely before you wash it as per note two below.

We recommend that you machine wash your hammam towel at 30°C. Once washed, leave it out to air dry. We do not recommend that you tumble dry the hammam towel because the heat can damage the cotton fibres.

Harsh chemicals do not work well with cotton fibres. Bleach will damage the cotton fibres and the fabric conditioner will reduce the absorbency of the hammam towel. Adding vinegar and/or baking soda to your wash once in a while helps to soften your hammam towel, kill bacteria and remove soap residue.

If you want to iron your hammam towel, please ensure you iron using low heat.

If you wish to return an item because you have changed your mind about your purchase or would like to exchange your item for a different colour, we will offer you an exchange or refund if you return the item within 30 days of purchase. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
